4K (Pre-Kindergarten) Program
Miss Suzie, Miss Cindy & Billy
The four-year-old Kindergarten Program is in collaboration with the Wausau School District. Wausau Child Care is an Outreach Center of the A.C. Kiefer Educational Center offering the 4K Program.
The Pre-Kindergarten Program (4K) provides developmentally appropriate education to students who are four years old on or before September 1st. All teachers are licensed by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Students attend school for 2½ hours a day, five days per week according to the school district calendar. Offering the 4K Program as an option at Wausau Child Care limits disruptive transitions to a child's routine by allowing many children to receive this outstanding pre-kindergarten instruction in their child care setting.
Our 4K Program adheres to the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards and maintains an early literacy focus. Our teachers are certified, specializing in early childhood education. They understand early brain development and appropriate teaching methods that best prepare young children for their educational future and their adult life. Our teachers are trained to deliver age-appropriate instruction including the Creative Curriculum and Breakthrough to Literacy, a research-based program that supports kindergarten readiness in reading development. The children at Wausau Child Care gain social skills and participate in music, art and physical activities to support development of the whole child.
Wausau's Kindergarten teachers overwhelmingly applaud the early learning that takes place in the 4K Program and note the classroom readiness they see in children who have participated in this popular program.
All children 4 years old on or before September 1st attending Wausau Child Care are invited to participate in the 4K Program.
