History
Wausau Child Care, Inc., began providing care for children in 1968 for 13 children. Today, Wausau Child Care has two facilities housing our Infant and Preschool Programs plus 14 School Age Program locations in the Wausau and D.C. Everest School Districts. Our licensed capacity is over 600 children ages 6 weeks through 12 years.
Mission/Philosophy
Wausau Child Care Inc. is a not-for-profit, fully-licensed and community based organization specializing in quality care for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years. Our service depends on an educated, well-trained and experienced staff of childcare professionals. Our programs reflect our genuine desire and commitment to providing care which significantly exceeds minimum requirements, while responding to the needs of parents, employers and of the organizations in the greater Wausau area.

Staff Qualifications
Our teaching staff is fully trained in Early Childhood Education. In addition, our teachers undergo training in Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Prevention and Shaken Baby Syndrome Prevention. Once a year, teachers attend Child Abuse & Neglect training and every two years, their CPR training is renewed. Wausau Child Care teachers also undergo First Aid training.
Continuing their education in childcare techniques, procedures and training is a requirement for membership in The Registry, Wisconsin's recognition system for the Childhood Care and Education Profession. The Registry acknowledges and highlights the training, experience and professionalism that is vital to quality child care. The Registry awards a certificate verifying that individuals have met all State of Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services entry level and continuing education requirements. Wausau Child Care teachers are all members of The Registry.
